Music Monday: Eric Lewis – A Beast of a Pianist

by AKB on September 7, 2009

Ran across Eric Lewis’ music today on the TED Site…this dude is a beast.

A little background: Lewis was born in Camden County, New Jersey, graduated from Manhattan School of Music in 1995, and won the Thelonius Monk International Piano Competition a year later at the age of 23.  Since then he’s performed with artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Cassandra Wilson, Clark Terry, Ornette Coleman, and has been a member of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.  He’s now known for making crazy jazz arrangements of alternative rock songs. Check out his take on Evanescence’s “Going Under” below:

And one more…

Follow him on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/eleww and make sure to check out his music.
