I hope everyone’s having a great Labor Day! Here’s some stuff I read over the weekend that might help you with your digital music strategy. Enjoy!
Idea: Musician’s own website as definitive source of all info – I sooo wish I wrote this article, lol. Derek Sivers gives his insight on artists having a “.com” homebase where they are able to disseminate all of their information to other sites (social networks, iTunes, etc.). I touched on this in my thesis and have now been inspired to come up with the solution to the problem Sivers presented…there’s not a service that allows musicians to do this. I’m a strategist, not a programmer, so I’ll need help. Anyone out there want to collaborate? Email me.
How I Use Twitter – Another Sivers article. Pretty good primer for musicians using Twitter.
REWIND: The New Music Industry’s Week In Review (Week Ending September 5, 2009) – Gotta love Hypebot. Check this article out to get caught up with what happened in the music industry last week.
Proper care and maintenance of networking sites – Use Labor Day to clean up your social networking advice, following some of the tips listed in this article by Loren Weisman.
And a little video inspiration (via MusicMarketing.com):
Ryan Leslie launched his career from the web. Maybe you’ll get results like this one day, too.

Alright…that’s it from me. Have a great holiday!
